Tribal Members May Use Their Tribal ID to Fish

Published July 21, 2025

It is peak season for fishing in Oklahoma.

Remember, in addition to the Choctaw reservation, Choctaw tribal members can use their tribal ID to fish on the Chickasaw, Cherokee, Creek, and Seminole reservations. In accordance with the 5 Tribes Wildlife Management Reciprocity Agreement, tribal members are not required to have a state issued fishing license on any of these 5 reservations.

If you receive a ticket from an Oklahoma game warden for not having a state issued hunting/fishing license while fishing within the 5 tribe’s boundaries, contact the Choctaw Nation Legal Department via the Member Legal Assistance webpage.
