
Choctaw Nation Tribal Council Approves $3.1 Billion Budget for Fiscal Year 2027
Published September 12, 2026DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation Tribal Council on Sept. 12 unanimously approved a comprehensive expense budget of $3.1 billion for fiscal year 2027.
The budget reflects the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s continued commitment to serving its growing tribal membership while making strategic investments that strengthen communities across the reservation and ensure long-term sustainability for future generations.
The approved budget includes a $617 million investment across the reservation, including building approximately 200 new homes and continuing to develop a new Hugo health clinic that will offer pediatrics, enhanced radiology, therapy and specialty care.
Funds will also go toward educational initiatives, such as expanding the children’s clothing and technology allowance to $150, as well as Chahta language preservation efforts and cultural programs that enrich the lives of Choctaw people and strengthen communities throughout southeastern Oklahoma.
The budget also reinforces the Nation’s focus on maintaining financial stability and supporting economic development opportunities, according to Chief Gary Batton.
“Every budget is a reflection of our commitment to the well-being and future of the Choctaw people,” said Batton. “This year’s budget continues our investment in the programs, services and opportunities that matter most to our tribal members. Through responsible planning and sound financial management, we are strengthening our communities, preserving our culture and creating opportunities for future generations.”
Additionally, the tribe plans to introduce a discount program that will help members save money, while continuing support of entrepreneurship to develop jobs and economic opportunity.
Choctaw Nation tribal membership has grown to approximately 240,000 members, creating increased demand for programs and services. To support growth, the Nation plans to hire an additional 117 associates during fiscal year 2027.
The fiscal year 2027 budget takes effect Oct. 1, 2026.
