Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Announces 2025 Tribal Election Results

DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Election Board announced official results of the 2025 General and Special Election held Saturday, July 12.

All election results have been duly certified by the Election Board and will be communicated to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

In District 4, Jess Henry was reelected to the Tribal Council with 73.73% of the vote. District 12 elected Regina Mabray with 76.13% of the votes. She will be filling the seat of James Frazier, who did not seek reelection.

District 6 Council Member Jennifer Woods, District 7 Council Member Joey Tom, District 9 Council Member James Dry, and District 10 Council Member Anthony Dillard were up for election but drew no opposition.

No candidate in the District 5 Special Election received more than 50% of the total votes cast, creating a run-off election between the top two vote-getters, Jennifer Turner (34.27%) and Earl Smith (20.08%). The runoff will be held on August 9, 2025, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with early voting on August 8, 2025, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Same Day Registration will be available to eligible tribal members. Voters will begin receiving mail-in ballots the week of July 21st. Ballots must be received and processed in the Durant, Okla, post office by August, 8, 2025. In-person voting will be held at the Choctaw Community Centers in Stigler and Spiro.

General Election Council Members will begin their new terms at noon on September 1, 2025. The winner of the Special Run-off Election will begin their term on August 13, 2025.

For the five proposed Constitutional Amendments, 11,122 affirmative votes were required to be approved based on Constitutional requirements related to voter participation in the most recent election for Chief. While all five amendments received at least 84% approval of votes cast, none hit the minimum total votes required.
