Closings, Postponements and Cancellations

As a public health precaution to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has decided to make the following closings and postponements. Given how quickly this situation is evolving, the Choctaw Nation will continue to provide updates to this page.

The following are detailed closings, postponements and cancellations:

  • Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Administrative Offices. Choctaw Nation closes administrative offices to the public on March 24 and encourages tribal members to contact Member Services departments via phone, email or other distance communication methods. We will be prioritizing Healthcare, Emergency Services, Food Distribution, LIHEAP and other critical member services. Tribal members may expect interruptions and delays to some tribal services during this time.
  • Choctaw Nation Health Services. Effective March 23, 2020:
    • Routine optometry & routine dental appointments will be rescheduled
    • Pharmacy is encouraging all patients to use pharmacy convenience options such as drive-through, online refills, phone ordering, mail delivery and the mycnhsa app
  • The Hospitality House. The Hospitality House in Talihina will be closed until further notice beginning at 5 p.m. on March 27.
  • Judicial Branch. All Choctaw Nation court proceedings through April 20 have been either continued, passed or setup for telephonic or video conference hearings.
  • Employee Health - Durant. Starting March 30, Employee Health in Durant will operate Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. until further notice.  If you have any questions, please call 580-931-3636.
  • Wellness Centers. All Wellness Centers, including the fitness center located within the Diabetes Wellness Clinic will close at 5 p.m. on March 17. All events postponed through April 3.
  • Welcome Center. To combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the lobbies of all Oklahoma Tourism Information Centers were closed. The lobby and outside restrooms of the Choctaw Welcome Center on Highway 69/75 in Colbert will remain closed until further notice.
  • Choctaw Store. The Choctaw Store located inside the Choctaw Nation Headquarters has decided to close as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, until further notice.  We will remain open online and look forward to serving you through our website, https://www.choctawstore.com.
  • CNO Headstarts. Choctaw Nation will follow Oklahoma State Department of Education closures, which have closed Oklahoma public schools until April 6.
  • CNO Early Head Start and Child Care Centers.  The early head start and child care facilities will close Friday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. and will remain closed until at least April 6. Staff members will partner with local schools to assist in providing meals and other necessities for families with children in local communities.
  • Community Centers. Community centers will be closed to the public, but will continue Senior Nutrition curbside meal service and have a field service representative available for tribal members each Wednesday.
  • Community Health Fairs. Several Health Fairs have been postponed.
  • Tribal Events. All tribal public events are canceled or postponed through April 3.
  • Talihina Youth Center. The center will be temporarily closed until further notice.
  • Food Distribution. Tribal members are asked to call ahead for curbside pick-up. Limit of two pick-ups per month. This is effective March 18. Contact numbers:

  • All Choctaw Casinos. Durant, Grant, Pocola, McAlester, Broken Bow, Idabel and Stringtown are closed effective 11:59 p.m. on March 16.
  • Casino Events & Promotions. These are temporarily suspended. This information will be made available on our promotions page on our casino website.
  • The District. All venues and related events and activities are closed effective March 17. This includes the movie theater, bowling and arcade.
  • Travel Plazas. All gaming inside Choctaw Travel Plazas is temporarily suspended. Guests may still purchase gasoline and other items inside Travel Plaza stores.
  • Roots Cafe. Roots is now closed to the public until further notice.
  • Tvshka Homma and Wheelock Museums. The Choctaw Nation museums are closing effective immediately and will remain closed until at least April 3.

  • Meet and Greet the SE President on May 29th has been cancelled
  • POSSE Choctaw Nation Professional Learning Conference May 28th & 29th has been cancelled
  • Elder Appreciation Day scheduled for May 13th has been cancelled
  • GED Graduation scheduled for May 8th has been cancelled
  • Summer Internship Programs have been cancelled
  • Durant Community Health Fair Scheduled for April 22nd has been cancelled
  • Spiro Community Health Fair Scheduled for April 15th has been cancelled
  • Antlers Community Health Fair Scheduled for April 1st has been cancelled
  • Stigler Community Health Fair Scheduled for March 25th has been cancelled
  • Summer Youth Golf Camp The South Camp scheduled for May 26-27 and the North Camp scheduled for May 28-29 have both been cancelled.
  • The Easter Celebration scheduled for April 11th at Tvshka Homma has been cancelled.
  • Kick Up Your Heels April 18 event has been postponed.
  • National Crime Victims' Rights Week April 23rd event has been cancelled
  • Princess Pageants scheduled for April 16th in McAlester and Wilburton have been cancelled.
  • Herndon, VA Community Cultural Meeting has been postponed
  • JOM Conference has been postponed
  • Conscious Discipline has been postponed
  • April Heritage Day has been cancelled

The Choctaw Nation wants to reiterate, we have no reports of cases of COVID-19 connected to any associates at this time.
