Where can I purchase a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate?

A Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate can be purchased from most Oklahoma Tag Agencies.

What is required for Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate eligibility?

To obtain a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate, one must be a Choctaw Nation Tribal member residing in the state of Oklahoma, be listed as the owner or co-owner of the vehicle and present a Choctaw Nation Tribal Membership Card displaying the CN# to the tag agency at the time of registration. (CDIB’s will not be accepted.)

What if my married name does not appear on my Choctaw Nation Tribal Membership card?

Choctaw Nation may ask for a second form of ID and/or a copy of marriage/divorce certificates due to Membership cards being issued in maiden name.

Am I eligible for a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plates if the title of the vehicle is in a trust?

The first and last name of the registered tribal member must be listed in the name of the trust. (Ex: John Doe Trust.) Living Trusts, Revocable Trusts and Family Trusts are not eligible for Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plates.

Am I eligible for a Choctaw Nation Tribal License plate if my title is under a lease?

Lease vehicles are not eligible for Choctaw Nation Tribal license plates.

Can I purchase a Choctaw Nation Tribal Veteran Plate?

A Choctaw Nation Tribal Veteran plate is available to purchase by a tribal member who meets eligibility requirements of a veteran per the tag agency.

Can I purchase a personalized Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate?

A personalized Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plates is available for additional fees. A combination of 4 letters minimum and up to 2 numbers maximum (i.e. ABCD12 or 12ABCD), or may be any combination of intermingled letters and numbers (i.e. AB12C or 1A7), or may be between 1 and 6 letters. 749-09 (ok.gov)

Will Choctaw Nation Tribal Farm Plates or Commercial Plates be issued?

There are not currently Choctaw Nation Tribal Farm or Commercial plates available from the State of Oklahoma.

Can I get a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate if I live in another state besides Oklahoma?

Only members who are active in the military and have a permanent address listed in Oklahoma are eligible. Form 779 will need to be provide to the Tribal state license department.

If I already have an Oklahoma license plate, can I get a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate before my current tag is up for renewal?

A member who has a current Oklahoma plate is eligible for a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate.

If I purchase a new vehicle and the dealership provides an Oklahoma license plate, am I eligible for a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate and reimbursement?

A member who purchases a new vehicle with a provided Oklahoma license plate may purchase a Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate if they meet eligibility requirements and do so within 90 days. This can be done at most Oklahoma Tag Agencies. Please reach out to Tribal State License for further instructions.

If I sell my vehicle, what do I do with the Choctaw Nation Tribal License Plate?

Oklahoma motorist will keep their license plates when they sell their vehicles.

How much of a reimbursement will I receive for getting the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Tribal license Plate?

At the time of purchase a member, will pay all regular fees to register a vehicle and then a reimbursement will be issued. Reimbursement configurations are as follows: New purchase:

  • Excise tax 20%
  • TTL 20%
  • Transfer fees 20%
  • New registration fees 20%
  • Prior registrations 20%
  • Sales taxes 65%

Renewals:

  • Registration $20 or 20%, whichever is greater.
  • Prior registration $20 or 20%, whichever is greater.

Do I need to submit paperwork or receipts to receive the rebate?

Reimbursements are provided by a monthly report from the state of Oklahoma to the Choctaw Nation Tribal State License Department for processing. Once the Tribal State License Department has received the report, they will process all reimbursements to eligible members. It is recommended that receipts are obtained and kept in case they are needed.

Why did I receive a letter stating my information is incomplete?

The registration could not be verified with membership.

How long does it take to receive my reimbursement?

Most reimbursements are issued within 60-90 days.

Why was my reimbursement mailed to an old address, when I have updated my address with Choctaw Nation?

Reimbursements will be mailed to the address that is on your registration. Please verify with tag agency that your address is updated at the time of purchase/renewal.
