  • General surgery, breast and orthopedic patients must have a consult, appropriate labs and testing entered by a Choctaw Nation provider to be scheduled in the Surgery, Breast, or Orthopedic Clinics.

How to Apply

Additional Information

Services are offered at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina and the Choctaw Nation Regional Medical Clinic in Durant. The Health Care Center in Talihina provides a range of surgical services, including both same day procedures as well as those requiring hospital admission. The Regional Medical Clinic in Durant offers services exclusively on an outpatient basis. Both facilities are staff by fully qualified, highly experienced physicians and nurses.

Surgical services offer a variety of general surgery procedures, including laparoscopic gallbladder, laparoscopic appendectomy, various hernia repair (including laparoscopic hernia repair on limited procedures), diagnostic endoscopy procedures (including EGD and colonoscopy), screening colonoscopy procedures and wound care management.

The Surgical Clinic also offers a specialized Breast Cancer and Cancer Survivorship Clinic staffed by a general surgeon and physician assistant. They are both College of Breast Surgeons certified. Services include: breast consultation, Port-a-Cath maintenance, breast punch biopsy, genetic counseling, ordering and managing appropriate referrals for oncology, genetic testing, MRI, labs, biopsy, and various surgical procedures including wire localized breast biopsy, mastectomy, lumpectomy, and implant removal.

The Orthopedic Clinic offers two mid-level specialized orthopedic providers and one orthopedic surgeon. Services include: joint injections, physical therapy referrals, surgical referral to orthopedic surgeon for various procedures, including knee arthroscopy, ACL repair, carpal tunnel, total knee replacement and casting or surgical repair of bone fractures.
The Surgical Department provides a pre-operative unit to prepare patients for surgery, state-of-the-art operating rooms, special procedure rooms, and post-surgical recovery areas. Ample waiting space is available for family members accompanying surgical patients.
