Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP)

Provides eligible Native American households within the Choctaw Nation service area with the opportunity to receive $60-$500 one time per year towards household water bills.

Eligibility

  • Must reside within the CNO service area
  • Native Americans with CDIB or tribal membership card
  • Applicant may not receive funding from Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) and Choctaw Nation LIHWAP
  • Income limits do apply
  • Aged 18 and up

Additional Information

The program began October 2021, households having past due water bills, cut-off notices or homes without water due to lack of funds within the household will be served first with next priority being to serve the elderly, disabled households, and homes with minor children. $60-$500 one-time payments annually per eligible households for up to two years, through Sept. 2023 or until funds are depleted.
