Respiratory Therapy is offered at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina 24 hours, seven days per week, and at the Durant Regional Medical Clinic five days per week during normal business hours. The department performs respiratory care in the outpatient clinics as well the emergency room and inpatient areas. Respiratory Therapists perform education for the patients and therapy services according to doctor’s orders. Procedures performed include arterial blood gases, breathing treatments, incentive spirometry as well as pulmonary function testing.
The department has CPAP and BIPAPs available and conduct EKGs and set up heart monitors at the physician’s request. Ventilators are available for patients requiring stabilization before transport to a higher level of care. All services require a written order from a physician.
