DURANT, Okla. – Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority’s (CNHSA) hospital, Choctaw Nation Health Care Center, located in Talihina, Okla. received a Five-Star rating in the latest patient survey data according to the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS). Collected between October 2023 and September 2024, the data is based on patient survey questions. Choctaw Nation earned an overall patient survey five-star rating from patient surveys.

The hospital is one of 12 in the state of Oklahoma with the designation and one of 529 in the United States for Five-Star nurse communication. The full data from the survey is available through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website.

“Earning a Five-Star patient survey rating reflects what we see every day,” said Todd Hallmark, executive officer of health services for Choctaw Nation. “Our staff takes great pride in providing excellent care to our patients.”

The HCAHPS survey is given to patients at the over 5,000 hospitals across the United States. A hospital must have at least 100 surveys for CMS to publish the survey data. CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals based on 46 hospital quality measures, which are divided into five categories: mortality, safety, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care.
