For thousands of years, Choctaw ancestors used a kind of pit called an earth oven for cooking. While our knowledge of these cooking techniques has been limited, archaeology has helped us learn more about the past. University of Alabama Ph.D. candidate Mike Fedoroff shares his research on earth oven pits as a cooking technology in the Choctaw homelands using experimental archaeology methods.
