Cultural Center 1 Year Anniversary
Published July 11, 2022By Chief Gary Batton
Halito,
I hope you enjoyed the 4th of July holiday with your family and friends! I’m excited to share that the celebrations will continue on July 23, with the 1-year anniversary of the Choctaw Cultural Center!
Our Cultural Center represents more than a decade of research and work and embodies the Chahta Nowvt Aya, or Choctaw Journey.
The festivities begin at 10am, and feature an art market, a chocolate making class taught by one of our Chahtapreneurs Ronnie Watchom, as well as children’s and cultural activities at the Living Village.
Our Choctaw culture is the foundation that our ancestors have built for us, and it is what makes us unique and defines who we are as Chahta people.
We have so many unique traditions that have impacted me and are deeply rooted in our history to live out our cultural values.
I encourage you all to enjoy the Cultural Center festivities.
Yakoke and God bless!
