Folsom,Eula Helen

Eula Helen (Folsom) Poe passed away in Napa, California on May 8, 1996. She was born in Indian Territory in 1904. She married Earnest J. Poe in Holdenville, Oklahoma on January 8, 1921. They recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. This hallmark even was recorded by two TV stations.

The family moved to California in 1929 where they reared four children. Earnest’s and Eula’s retirement days were enjoyed at their Lake country home where they were active participants in neighborhood organizations. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Lakeport, California.

She was the granddaughter of the Reverend Willis F. Folsom who was an outstanding voice in Christianity. The records indicate he was a devoted Methodist preacher for 52 years and he wrote a Choctaw dictionary. Eula was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and she passed this pride on to her children and grandchildren.

Her survivors include her husband, Earnest; two daughters, Theo Evans of Napa, California and Morna Fitterer of Dana Point, California; two sisters, Christena Melton of Kelseyville, California and Catherine rounds of Walnut Creek, California and one brother Travis Russell of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
