Jennifer Woods - District 6 Candidate

Candidate for Choctaw District 6 Jennifer Woods

Halito!

My name is Jennifer Prock-Woods. I am a proud Choctaw tribal member, and it has been my privilege to serve District 6 on Tribal Council. I humbly ask for your continued support to serve our great district. My father was Robert L. Prock, a proud veteran who loved his country and a Choctaw boy from Red Oak, Oklahoma and my mother was Evelyn (Moore) Prock-Christie, from Jack Fork Mountain. My grandparents were John and Classie Wallen who were lifetime members of First Indian Baptist Church in McAlester.  I attended school at Jones Academy and graduated in 1977.  My heart belongs to Jesus and Jones Academy.  I believe that everything I am today, the strong work ethic and resilience, is because of what I learned at Jones Academy.  I attended Eastern State College and graduated from East Central University.  I completed Choctaw University Leadership Classes in 2015.  Upon graduation I worked at Jones Academy in 1986 as the Drug and Alcohol Counselor, Director of Indian Child Welfare (ICW) for Choctaw Nation, and Director of Community Based Social Workers (CBSW) Choctaw Nation.

It has been a busy four years, and we are now in our new Community Center and office nineteen tribal services to be more centralized and better serve our people.  We have LEAP homes in Red Oak and Wilburton and our housing village with Independent Elder and Affordable Rental Housing is also in Wilburton.  Continued projects with our strategic planning will include a day care and a much-needed expansion of our Travel Plaza.  We have seven Tribal Lighthorsemen serving the district.  The remodel of Chi Hullo Li, the residential women’s treatment and recovery center has been completed, and a data/IT center has been built at the Choctaw Hospital in Talihina, Oklahoma.  The hospital expansion has also been completed with housing for the doctors and nurses.

District 6, the Heart of the Choctaw Nation, is involved in our communities and schools and we have established good relationships and work closely with city and county leaders.  We are committed to making District 6 a safe and prosperous community.  I am thankful that I have been able to serve you and ask for your vote in 2025.
