Jaime Misenheimer

Description of Art: Her large scale paintings are made spontaneously and intuitively, without physical references. They are combinations of memory, experience and imagination, existing between abstraction and representation. Often there are recurring elements such as interiors, animals, clocks and nighttime. They are the result of a gamelike interaction between her discernment and the unfolding composition dictated by the scale of the piece. This intuitive method of working has roots in her connection with imagination and sensitivity to the natural world, and is heavily influenced by her upbringing in rural Oklahoma. "Sunroom", for example, is the memory of her great-grandparent's house, which she regards as a formative place of creativity.
