Drinking Water
The Sustainable Communities Program ensures safe, reliable water infrastructure for future generations by assisting local water providers. The team consists of infrastructure planners with extensive knowledge of water and wastewater operations and system information, and resource planners specializing in policy, funding opportunities, and office procedures that assist systems with all aspects of water system operations and record keeping.
In addition to offering consultation regarding anything from plant operations to government regulation adherence, the Sustainable Communities team acts as liaisons for local systems with the Department of Environmental Quality, the Oklahoma Water Resources Board, and the Environmental Protection Agency. These efforts lend a supportive voice to the local water providers on the reservation, reinforcing Choctaw Nation’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship of the most precious natural resource.
Wastewater
Wastewater infrastructure planners are critical in safeguarding public health and environmental quality by coordinating long-term wastewater collection, treatment, and reuse strategies. By analyzing current system capacities, forecasting future needs, and aiding in developing sustainable solutions, wastewater planners help maintain the quality of water discharged into the waterways and the environment. This work bridges engineering, environmental science, and planning to build sustainable wastewater systems.
