Your Group Support is here!
Camp Chahta is for incoming college freshmen who are tribal members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Designed to orient freshmen with the campus and college life, students may move into dormitories early and participate in cultural activities, such as stickball, basket weaving, beading and language classes. The purpose of these activities is to create a close-knit community of Choctaw students and develop new friendships.
In addition, First Year Experience Coordinators work with students on financial aid, enrollment, and possible resources for making their educational experience successful. Advisors will review degree plans and verify course enrollments.
Through the College Freshman Year Initiative, sponsored by Choctaw Nation, students will continue to receive support. Weekly visits with their Coordinator keep students accountable for their grades and attendance. Workshops in time management, study skills and financial literacy, help them plan and be prepared for educational success.
