The Next Step Initiative (NSI) seeks to help working households and elders find success in learning the skills appropriate for financial stability.
We offer help to tribal members who do not qualify for other income-based programs. Primarily, we are here to assist those who are truly looking to expand their knowledge of managing personal finances.
Our end goal is to help develop your financial knowledge by increasing awareness in spending behaviors that will allow you to pave a solid foundation for your future.
- At least one Choctaw Tribal Member in household

STEP Guide Training
The Success Through Empowering People, or STEP Guide, is designed to easily break down basic household knowledge such as:
- Basic Money Management
- Teaching Children Money
- Debt Management
- Workplace Success
- Healthy Lifestyles
Through this guide, we hope to provide you with the information that will help you take control of your financial situation.
This required training for the program is instated to ensure a basic knowledge of the information presented. You will be given the ability to work through this program at your own pace with a hands-on learning curriculum.
Upon meeting eligibility requirements, you will be provided with a VISA debit card to help supplement the learning process as you build proper habits. The monthly amount you will receive on the VISA card is based on household size.
Building Foundations Household
If your household is under the age of 60 you will be required to complete training in order to remain eligible for assistance.
Established Foundations Households
For households over the age of 60, our goal for this service is to provide household necessities to established, elder homes. This service will offer referrals as well as assistance to obtain other services.
To sign up for the Next Step Initiative, the participant must schedule an appointment with a Next Step Social Worker at one of the locations listed below.
