Next Step Initiative

About Us:

The Choctaw Nation Next Step Initiative is a supplemental food and necessity voucher program that promotes self-sustainment through foundational training opportunities.

The Next Step Initiative is income based. However, the program is designed to assist families that are slightly over income for many income based programs.


Building Foundations Household

Our goal is to provide the foundational tools needed for future financial success while providing supplements during the learning process.

  • One Choctaw Tribal Member in Household
  • Reside in the Choctaw Nation Service Area
  • Must be a Working Household: Some exemptions apply such as Medical, Social Security, Disability, Full-Time Students, etc.
  • Income-Based
  • Training Participation Required


Established Foundations Households

Our goal of this service piece is to provide food and necessities to established, elder homes. This service will offer referrals as well as assistance to obtain other services. Eligibility is the same as Building Foundations Households expect no training required.


Foundational Training:

The trainings offered and required for Building Foundations Households include:

  • Basic Money Management
  • Debt Management
  • Workplace Basics
  • Healthy Lifestyles
  • Culture

Getting Started:

To sign up for the Next Step Initiative, the participant must schedule an appointment with a Next Step Social Worker at one of the locations listed below.

Eligibility and services cannot be guaranteed without all necessary documentation and an appointment with a social worker.
