Child Care Assistance
Our goal is to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of the child care services within the Choctaw Nation service area. We service Native American children under the age of 13.
On October l, l984, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Muskogee Area Office, contracted the Johnson O’Malley Program.
Jones Academy is a Native American residential learning center for elementary and secondary school age children. The facility is located in southeast Oklahoma and houses 190 co-ed students grades 1 through 12.
The Choctaw Nation believes the success of our people depends upon the education of our youth. Success Through Academic Recognition (STAR) promotes high levels of achievement by rewarding students’ academic success. By providing incentives to Choctaw students enrolled in second through twelfth grades, STAR encourages them to perform at optimal levels and reinforces the idea of “hard work pays off.” Since 2007, STAR has grown from an educational program for Choctaw students in the Choctaw Nation, to an international program servicing Choctaw youth worldwide. STAR currently serves more than 20,000 students in forty-eight states and five foreign countries.
