Career Development’s Academic and Employment Services Specialists assist Choctaw tribal members with academic assessments, academic enhancement, testing strategies, and other academic-related services which support our clients in reaching their career goals.

Our goal is to help you land your dream job. Employment Services Specialists are available to assist you by providing resources, support, and guidance for a successful job search through individualized coaching, workshops, video tutorials, and by sharing of high-quality resources.

Academic Services

As an initial step in the process of providing career services to our Choctaw tribal members, the Academic Specialists work with clients to assess their current academic strengths and weaknesses and provide online as well as individualized assistance for refreshing or developing the skills needed for successful completion of the client’s chosen field of training. Our primary focus is on ensuring that our clients attain industry-appropriate skill levels in math and reading, but other specialized academic support may be provided as needed. Academic Services also include assistance in preparing for program entrance exams and certification tests.

Academic Specialists provide individualized academics support in the various Career Development office locations as well as by phone, email, or video presentations. Please contact an Academic Services Specialist with any questions or concerns relating to your academic success.

Employment Services

The Academic & Employment Services Specialists also support our clients with assistance for all aspects of the job search process. Services are provided through individualized coaching sessions, group workshops, email, phone, and video presentations.

Primary Services:

  • Resume development or critiquing

  • Cover Letter Development or critiquing

  • Interview skills development and practice interviews

  • Assistance with the employment application process

  • Professional dress and presentation skills

  • Networking and accessing the hidden job market

  • Best practices for online job searching

  • General job search coaching

Our Employment Services Specialists also work with local area employers who are actively hiring and can provide listings of possible employment opportunities for clients.
