Technology Allowance Program

The Choctaw Nation offers a one-time Technology Allowance of $500 to registered Choctaw tribal members throughout the United States who are currently attending an accredited college or university. Funding is limited and approval is based on a first come, first serve basis. Students must meet all eligibility requirements to receive funding. The yearly application will open on January 17, 2022 at 8:00 am CST and stay open until funding limits have been met.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must be a registered tribal member at the time of application submission.
    • Relinquished, Non-member, and Pending CDIB/Tribal membership applicants are not eligible.
  • Students must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
    • Concurrent (dual credit) students are not eligible.
  • Students must have completed a minimum of 12 cumulative credit hours at an accredited institution prior to application submission.
    • Courses completed at a technical school are eligible for assistance IF those courses result in college credit.
    • Zero Level courses do not count toward completed credit hours unless the institution recognizes them as such.
  • Students must be actively enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the current semester.
  • Students must have earned at minimum a 2.0 GPA in the most recently completed semester.
  • Students must not have already received the Technology Allowance or assistance from the Computer Distribution Program. This is a one-time allowance and can only be received once in the entirety of the college career.

How to Apply:

  • Complete the online application at the Chahta Achvffa portal when the funding cycle is open.
  • Upload a current semester schedule. Schedules must include:
    • Student name
    • Institution name or web address
    • Term name or dates
    • Course descriptions or titles
    • Credit hours to be earned per course
  • Upload a complete up-to-date academic transcript. Transcripts must include:
    • Student name
    • Institution name or web address
    • All completed coursework with term names, courses, credit hours, grades, and GPAs
      • If the institution goes by different semester timelines or grading scales, please submit additional documentation.
      • If multiple schools were attended in the same semester, please send transcripts from each school.


  • Full-time and part-time students that meet eligibility requirements will be funded $500.00.
  • Awarding is based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Application review and funding takes 6-8 weeks from the date of application submission.
  • Please allow an additional 2-4 weeks for the processing and delivery of the pre-paid VISA card, after approval.
