DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) Quarterly Conference will be held at Robbers Cave State Park on Saturday, Oct. 8. Members of all 25 YAB chapters in southeast Oklahoma, as well as potential new members, are invited to attend the free event. The youth leadership program is open to all students (members of any tribe and non-tribal) in eighth through 12th grades who reside on the Choctaw Reservation.

Robbers Cave State Park is located five miles north of Wilburton. At the meeting, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., students will receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks. After a student-led business meeting, two speakers will share how they became leaders in their fields. The afternoon will feature the “YABlympics,” a fun-filled series of competitions designed to encourage collaboration, ingenuity, and teamwork. All of the day’s activities will be held outdoors.

While reservations can be made up to and including the day of the event, students are asked to RSVP as early as possible. Also, free transportation to and from the event may be available.
