Julia Lou (Tecumseh) Springman Submitted by: Terri Davis, granddaughter

Julia Lou Tecumseh, an original Choctaw enrollee, was born 1-28-1904 to Houston and Ida (Kincaid) Tecumseh. Julia’s siblings were Lee, Baker Ellen, Amos, Jesse and J.B. Tecumseh (all deceased) also Elizabeth James, Lahoma Shults, Nadine Morrow and Naomi Porter. Julia was raised in the Bokoshe area. She met and married William Henry Springman and moved to Lindsey, Ok. where they raised a family. They had 5 children: John Springman, Gene Springman, Thelma (Springman) Howell, Mary (Springman) Robertson and David Springman. Julia’s husband passed away at an early age, leaving Julia to raise the family alone. Julia helped out in her community by playing the piano each Sunday at different churches. She was very involved in the same little church, as well as other churches in the community. She was a very beautiful and spiritual woman who was always there for her family, church and community. She was registered 7/8 Choctaw (New Born) and was very proud of her heritage. Her family today is still very involved in keeping their Indian heritage alive. Although Julia passed away in August of 1978, at Lindsey, Ok. at the age of 74, she is still very alive today in the hearts of many of her family and friends.
