John Spring, Sr. was born 07-01-1869 in Indian Territory to William (Willie) Spring and June (LeFlore) Spring. His first marriage was to Nancy McCoy born 08-23-1859 whose parents were Dave and Becky McCoy. Records show nine children born to this union. They were Louie (Lewis), born 09-01-1878 and died 12-28-1944. He married Lillia Oaks; Eli (Bud) born 02-05-1880 and died 03-22-1959. His marriages were to Molly Jacob, Emma and Susie Hollaway; Isaac (Ike) born 03-10-1882 and died 04-06-1933. He married Cordelia Goforth; Melinda born 11-09-1884 and died 09-23-1919. She married W.A. Mays; Christopher (Chris) born? And died 08-01-1973. He married Lennie Clark who was born 03-15-1887 and died 06-28-1980; John Jr. (Dutch) born 09-26-1888 and died 12-30-1966. He married Ruth Cooper; Jackson (Jack) born 09-29-1891 and died 01-30-1969; Maud May, born? And died 08-21-1898 as a child; Benjamin (Ben) born 4-22-1896 and died 09-18-1978. His marriages were to Ivy Kernell, Bessie Low, Kate Smith, Lucille?, Abbe?, and number six was Bessie?. Records show that his wife, Nancy McCoy Spring died 02-25-1902. Records show that after his first wife died, he married Dora Isabell Elrod whose parents were Thomas Elrod and Charlotte Copeland Elrod. Records show five children born to this union. They were: an infant, but no dates so it is presumed that it must have died at birth; Susan (Susie) Deluttie, born 10-04-1905 and died 05-20-1974. She married James D. (Judgie) Calder who was born 08-22-1891 and died 11-29-1974; Rufus Clark, born 04-24-1908 and died 09-13-1941. He married Lorena (Lorene) Elkins; Huston (Scooter) born 03-17-1910 and died 03-17-1957. He married Bennie Mae Grubbs; Mary Ethel, born 01-26-1913. She married Leslie Murrell Wallace 01-03-1927. His father, William, was born 04-14-1832 in Mississippi and his parents were Christopher Columbus Spring and Susan Bohannon. HE was enrolled and died 09-26-1906 and is buried in the Spring Cemetery southeast of Hugo as many, many of the family is. John’s mother was born 06-15-1832 in Mississippi and died 08-06-1892. John died 05-13-1937 at his home in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was buried in the Spring Cemetery. His wife, Dora plus ten sons and daughters survived him. They were: Louis, Eli, Jack, Ben, Huston, Rufus, John, Chris, Susan Calder, Lillie Wallace and Martha Wright.
