Submitted by: Ruthie Imes

David Warren McAlvain was born August 20, 1894 in Sugar Loaf County, Choctaw Nation to Polk McAlvain and Louisa Matilda Bowers Choate. He had the privilege of marrying a sweet Christian woman named Lela Minnie Peters, daughter of full blood Choctaw Methodist Minister Simon Peters and Siambra Frizzell, daughter of K.K. and Fannie Frizzell. David was good at making folks laugh in his youth, annoying his siter Florence Alice, and it has been said that he could whistle real well.

Before Lela’s death on April 5, 1970, they had the following children: Tony McAlvain, born February 17, 1913; Raymond McAlvain, Irene McAlvain (Reed), Lanell McAlvain, Virginia Eloise McAlvain, and Norma Vivian McAlvain.

David Warren McAlvain died in February 1982 and is buried in Leflore County, Oklahoma.
