My grandmother was Jennie Lila Durant, born 06-21-1879 and died 01-24-1924. She was ½ Choctaw blood. She married Elijah Costilow, born 04-04-1871 and died 04-06-1914. They were married on 08-11-1895. Elijah was a white man enrolled as.

They lived around Blue, Indian Territory, and then to Lukfata and Holly Creek area near Broken Bow in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. I think he was a farmer. Jennie died from a ruptured appendix. The doctor operated on her at home and she did not make it. Jennie and Elijah both died at a young age and are buried in Holly Creek Cemetery. They had eight children. They were: Lena Mae born 09-05-1896 and died 01-18-1985; James Daniel born 12-17-1898 and died 03-03-1901; Henrietta born 01-18-1901 and died 11-09-1918; Lula Bell born 11-06-1903 and died 07-01-1922; James William, born 11-06-1906 and died 1984; George Elijah born 08-18-1908 and died 1988; Thaddeus (Thad) born 01-13-1911; Henry born 01-06-1914.

Jennie Lila’s parents were Isom (Isham) Durant and Phoebe??. I do not know of any brothers or sisters that she may have had.
