Viola Brashears

Viola Brashears was born October 29, 1904 at Spiro, Indian Territory. She was born t Tobias and Bessie (Howard) Brashears. When she was five weeks old, the family moved to Lona, now called Lona Valley. Tobias Brashears allotted land in Lona for all the family, including Mary Jane, his mother. Viola married Henry Lourimore on July 11, 1924. A few years later they bought the land that was the original allotment of Mary Jane Brashears, the grandmother of Viola.   1. After Henry died in 1988, Viola continues to live there. She is now 92 years old and still in very good health. She still crochets, pieces quilts and quilts them. This is a list of Brashears Original Enrollees. All of them have died except one, Viola. Some of them died before I was born but I did know some of the younger ones. Most of the allotted land was kept by the enrollees until the 40’s when some of it was sold. Buster and Viola’s allotment is still in the family. George Brashears died December 31, 1930 at age 85 years. He was an only child of William Brashears and his first wife. His second wife was Mary Jane Collins. She was born in 1841 and died May 25, 1908. Their children were: Tobia Brashears 1-03-1861 and died 11-08-1922; Letha Ann Brashears born 07-04-1842 and died 07-12-1842; Emma Jane Brashears born 07-11-1867 and died 11-19-1956; Francis Brashears born 02-08-1869 and 12-01-1958; Benjamin Brashears born 04-21-1872 and died 05-17-1919; Mary Brashears born 01-19-1877 and died 09-21-1967; Anna Lourinda Brashears born 10-01-1881 and died 12-02-1956. Tobias married Bessie Howard. She was an Inter Married White. She was born 08-19-1880 and died 10-25-1957. Children of Tobias and Bessie (Howard) Brashears: William Jenning Brashears born 01-27-1901 and died 06-09-1982; Buster Brashears born 01-08-1903 and died 05-13-1993; Viola Brashears born 10-29-1904. Buster and Viola was New Born Enrollees.
