Violette (Brogdon) Wiley, 92, passed away July 7 in a Pryor, Oklahoma, hospital. She was born June 9, 1912, at Calvin, Oklahoma, to Pearl and Madison Brogdon.

A graduate of Shawnee High School, she was married to Eugene L. Wiley on September 1, 1931. They were residents of Pryor from 1939 to 1955 where she worked for the telephone company and as a deputy in the county clerk’s office.

She and her husband moved to Sells, Arizona, and then to Warm Springs, Oregon, where they worked on Indian reservations for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1970 from the BIA in Tahlequah, they returned to Pryor. Violette was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and had received a lifetime membership from the organization.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and a brother, Paxton Brogdon.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Billie Joe Cottongim of Plano, Texas, Dorothy and Bert Roy and Joyce and Haskell Gaither, all of Pryor; ten grandchildren, 20 grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a twin sister, Virginia Diggs of Enid, Oklahoma.
