Henry Wesley Jr., 74, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away January 28, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born September 10, 1930, in Blanco, Oklahoma, to Henry and Planna (Ward) Wesley.
He graduated from Pittsburg High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1951. He served in the Korean War, fought at Pork Chop Hill, and was awarded two Bronze Stars.
After his discharge, Mr. Wesley attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. He married Sherry Stevens and they lived in Oklahoma City where he worked as a truck driver until his retirement. She preceded him in death in 1992.
He returned to McAlester where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Brushey Missionary Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1098.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Taft Wesley and Johnny Wesley.
Survivors include four sisters and a brother-in-law, Mamie Billy of McAlester, Josephine and Louis Mitchell of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Ruby Manor of McAlester and Edith Billy of Blanco, Oklahoma; a stepson, David Stevens of Lead Hill, Arkansas; a grandson, Nathan Stevens of Lead Hill, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Billi327,Newman James Robinson Jr.
