A member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, she arrived in California during the Great Depression and maintained roots in the Healdsburg, California area for 65 years, even as she traveled around the state during earlier years following the crops.

Later she spent years working as a cook and sometimes waitress at the Iceberg Cade, a place old-timers still remember. She also cooked at the Timber Lodge Hotel near Bodega Bay where several movie stars.
