Willard Coleman Townsend, 60, of Durant, Oklahoma and former Lehigh resident passed away Monday, June 11, 2001 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born November 15, 1940 at Lehigh to Willard Pharmer and Marcela Jean (Mill) Townsend.

Coleman was a 1958 graduate of Coagate High School and attended Seminole Junior College and Oklahoma City University. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He was of the Baptist faith and a Mason with the Durant Lodge. He married Patricia Ann McAusland in Sherman, Texas.

Coleman was the Executive Director of Choctaw Nation Tribal Police and Choctaw Nation Tribal Security. He had served as a lieutenant with the Seminole Police Department, Chief of Police with the Wewoka Police Department for over three years and as an agent with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He also served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division.

His parents prceded him in death.

Survivors include Coleman’s wife, Patricia, of the home in Durant; three children, Lora Ann Townsend of Durant, Tweety Prough of Clanton, Alabama, and Ginna Marie Hill and husband, Dale, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Justin Coleman Townsend and Brandon Lee Prough, both of Durant, Preston Dokota Prough of Clanton, and Colton Dale Hill and Triston Lane Hill, both of Ninnekah; a sister, Virginia Townsand of Coalgate; siter-in-law, Mary Layton and husband, Bob, of Coalgate; two aunts, Beatrice Wolf817,Herman “”Keat”” C. Kerns”
