Joe Frank Bill Statham passed away on October 22, 1997 in Broken Arrow. He was bon September 28, 1915 in Milton Oklahoma and married Mildred Olivia Joyce December 25, 1936 in Spiro Oklahoma. His parents are the late Frank Tedford Statham and Allie Mae Folsom Statham both of Spiro. For the last few months he resided with his son in Coweta Oklahoma.

Bill graduated from Spiro Public School in 1935 and started his work career with Swifts Meat Packing Company in Tulsa Oklahoma. He later returned to Spiro where he worked for O.C. Clayton as a fuel truck driver and ran the local power plant. During the later years of World War II he became a commercial bus driver for Crown Coach/Greyhound Bus Lines, later to become Jefferson Lines. He managed the Jefferson Bus terminal in Fayetteville Arkansas for two years and then returned to driving. He retired from Jefferson lines after 35 years. Bill was active in the Boy Scout of America as both a member and as a Scout Leader. In the past he was president of the Spiro School Board, A Spiro City Council Member and Mayor of Spiro. He was a member of Murrow Lodge # 49 for 51 years and the Amrita Grotto of Ft. Smith. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Spiro and a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Olivia Tooter Statham of the home; one son, Larry Wayne Statham of the home; two daughters, Betsy Lynn Criswell of Muldrow and Joyce Ann Bridges of Spiro; one brother, George Albert Statham of Ft. Smith Arkansas; two sisters, Dora Ella Davies of Spiro and Virginia Jo Remer Rhoades of Stigler Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
