Guy L. Sewell, 84, passed away May 21, 2000 at Shelton, Washington. He was born April 13, 1916 at Provence, Oklahoma to Nettie Jack Sewell and Wallace Sewell.

Mr. Sewell married Pearl Bailey of Ardmore, Oklahoma on May 29, 1940. They had six children, Mary, Barbara, Danny, Nettie, Wally and Martha.

Guy entered the Army in November 1940, training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Abilene, Texas with the 45th Division. He volunteered for the Rangers, trained by the British Commandos. Darby’s Rangers fought in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was discharged in November 1945, having been awarded the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense and ETU Ribbons with four battle stars.

After World War II, they moved to Washington State where Guy worked for Simpson Lumber Co. until he retired after 30 years. They then moved back to Oklahoma for a few years before returning to Shelton, Washington in February 2000.
