Densel Smith, 80, passed away October 28, 1999 at McAlester General Hospital. He was born February 17, 1919 at Crowder, Oklahoma to Dick and Hazel Smart Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Smith; mother, Hazel Smith; sister, Betty Farris; sister-in-law, Mary Smith; brother-in-law, Homer Farris, and grandson, Gary Don Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home and four sons and daughters-in-laws, Carley and Kim Smith and David Smith all of San Jose, California, and Ray and Carol Smith and Claude Smith, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickey and Rad Connelly of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Nancy and Pat Coleman of San Jose; sister, Lois Prichard, of Massillon, Ohio; two brothers and sister-in-laws, T. Bone and Goldie Smith of Crowder, Oklahoma and Seth Smith of Stigler, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was dearly loved by his family and he will be missed as will his cheerful smile and wonderful sense of humor. We were lucky to have him. He was proud of his Choctaw Heritage.

Densel was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was also a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1098.
