Leona Scantlen Rucker, 89, of Stigler, died Sunday, March 24, in her home.

Mrs. Rucker was born October 15, 1901, in Indian Territory to James and Laurena (Garland) Scantlen. She was a retired evangelist, serving 42 years. Leona was an original enrollee with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Services were at the Mallory Chaplin in Stigler with Rev. Carl Hill officiating. Burial was in Garland Cemetery.

Mrs. Rucker is survived by one daughter, Mildred Robertson of Broken Arrow; two sons, Kenneth Bales of Broken Arrow and Jack Bales of Haughton, LA; one sister, Velma Durant of Stigler, two brothers, Lucian Scantlen and Haskell “Doc” Scantlen, both of Stigler, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
