Gregory Guy Poynter of Rancho Santa Fe, California passed away on August 2, 1994 at his home. He was 30 years old.

He was born in Seattle Washington on October 9, 1963 and moved to California with his family in 1966. He attended Rancho Santa Fe School and graduated from Torrey Pines High in 1981. Greg the attended Cuesta College before moving to Los Angeles where he worked until 1992. He returned to Rancho Santa Fe that year.

Greg is survived by his parents, Virgina and Allan Johnston of Rancho Santa Fe and Robert Poynter of Fremont, California; sisters, Stacy Poynter, Darcee Navarra and Alena Guest; brothers, Roby Poynter and Craig Johnston, all of California; paternal grandparents, Gene and Alma Poynter of Leavenworth, Washington and maternal grandparents, Regenia Sadler Christophel of Springfield, Virgina and Martin D. Bohreer of McAlester, Oklahoma.

Gregory’s Choctaw heritage was very meaningful to him. Following his wishes to be buried in the Choctaw Nation, he was laid to rest on September 2, 1994 among many family members at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester.
