Benjamin Loftus Olsen, an original enrolled Choctaw, died May 11, 1989, at the age of 98. He was born in Jackson County, Choctaw Nation, December 23, 1890. He attended Chishichtok Mission School.

He married Dona McCuen in 1911.

Their Children are Bennie Olsen of Lawton, Neva Holloway of Durant and Esther Cummings of Bokchito.

Mr. Olsen was the son of Benjamin Olsen, a Norwegian emigrant, and Sarah Ann Smallwood of Nelson, Choctaw Nation. His grandparents were William Smallwood and Mary Barefeld of Nelson, both of whom had been in the Choctaw Removal from Mississippi.

Mr. Olsen had been a farmer, carpenter, and a school bus driver at Boswell before retirement. He loved to hunt and fish. He never lived far from Boggy Creek which he fished all his life. His coon and fox hounds were family members. He will be greatly missed by his three children, five grand-children, eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-granddaughters, many relatives, and a host of friends.
