Benjamin Arvel Olsen, 84, of Calera, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born November 3, 1915 in Cade, Oklahoma to Thomas A. and Sarah Ethel Lindsey Olsen.

Mr. Olsen attended Boswell and Cade schools. He married Ruth Elizabrth Wortham on September 24, 1938 in Hugo, Oklahoma. He was a farmer who was active in the Farmers Union and Rural Development. He lived most of his life in the Calers area and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Cecil Olsen, in 1983 and sister, Ada Busby, in 1967.

Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Donald Lee Olsen and wife, Janice of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Benny Olsen and wife, Jeannie of Achille, Oklahoma; daughters, Glenda Moore and husband, Floyd, of Oklahoma City, Zelda Brady of the home and Dalphine Kelley and husband, Bill, of Garland, Texas; brothers, Willard Olsen and wife, Faye, of Atoka, Oklahoma and Tommy Olsen of Moyers, Oklahoma; sisters, Dora Lee Barnett and husband, Alton, of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law, Ellen Olsen of Choctaw, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends.
