Michael David Murphy was born March 6, 1966 in Tulsa Oklahoma. He went to be with the lord on Sunday April 27, 1997 after an accident.

Michael David was the great-grandson of the late Nettie E. Free Darrough, and original enrollee of the Choctaw Nation.

He was a senior medical technology student at Oklahoma State University, serving his internship at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

He was due to graduate on May 10, 1997. Upon graduation he was planning on attending medical school. His Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology was granted on May 10, 1997 at on OSU graduation in a very moving ceremony. A memorial tree was planted at the university in Michael’s honor on May 9, 1997 in a ceremony attended by faculty, fellow students, friends and family.

Michael was a caring, compassionate person willing to help anyone, not just those he knew. His death is a loss for all. The world has lost a remarkable man, who would have become an exemplary doctor and we have lost a very special friend and loved one who brought us such joy.

Loved by so many, his smile will be forever in our hearts and he will be missed more than words can say.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Joann and infant daughter, Jodee Mikael.

He is survived by his father, George Ronald of Coweta, Oklahoma; sister, Rona Murphy of Mounds, Oklahoma, grandfather, Dave Darrough of Tulsa; and many aunt, uncles, cousins, friends, and Scottie Georgie.
