Maxine Nale Morse, 86, passed away on August 29, 2007. She was born on August 16, 1921, to Joseph and Minnie Nale at Indianola.

She attended the local Nale school which was named for her grandmother who donated the land it was built on. She completed her early education at McAlester High School and then went on to Oklahoma A&M College at Stillwater. She graduated in 1944 with a degree in education and found employment at the Fort Defiance Indian School, Fort Defiance, Arizona. After she completed her contract, she returned to Oklahoma A&M College to obtain her Master’s degree in Education and graduated in 1949. While at college, she met fellow student, Larry Morse, and they married in May 1950. After she graduated, Central State University at Edmond employed her in their Teacher Demonstration School. She taught there for three years, taught briefly in the Oklahoma City School system.
