Mamie Katherine (Billey) Machnicz, 66, passed away June 13, 2003 at her home in Del City, Oklahoma. She was born July 22, 1936 in Bennington, Oklahoma, the daughter of Pauline (Nance) and Carl Billey and the granddaughter of Les (Phillips) and Dawson Billey. Mamie was one-half blood Choctaw Indian and very proud of the Chahta Nation.

She and her family moved to California in 1943 and she later attended and graduated from Chowchilla Union High School in 1955. Mamie and John J. Machincz were united in marriage on June 18, 1955 in Nevada. Her husband was a career military man in the U.S. Air Force. During their service, Mamie lived in several places including Tokyo, Japan.

She was employed at the Child Study Center at Children’s Hospital as a Respite Aide and as a teacher for special needs children. Mamie was an active member of the St. Paul Apostle Catholic Church in Del City, where she served as Children’s Choir Director, Director, of Religious Education Department and a member of the ladies group.

Survivors include her father, Carl Billey; brother, Howard Billey; sister, Linda Billey-Savedge; son, John and Jim; daughters, Robyn and Regina; sons-in-law, Randy Nutt and Michael Lewandowski; daughters-in-law, Teresa and Quaylin; grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Nicki, Amy, Senoa and Roman.
