Josh Lee Morris, 57, passed away July 15, 1998. He was born December 14, 1940, at Stigler, Oklahoma, to the Rev. Nelson and Emaline Morris, who was 4/4 Choctaw.

He attended the Goodland Indian Orphanage School and also, Jones Academy at Hartshorne, Oklahoma, and the Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. At the age of 23, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. In December 1965 he was wounded and then received an honorable discharge from the Army. He received several awards and medals while in the Army, including the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, 2nd Class National Defense, SVC Medal Expert Rifle H-14, and Marksmanship .45 Cal. Pistol.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson J. Morris, Jr., and John S. Morris.

Mr. Morris is survived by a sister, Elsie Wesley of Rattan, Oklahoma; a brother, Jacob Morris of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a half-brother, Joseph Morris; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
