MThe Rev. John S. Morris former Ponca City resident passed away November 10, 1997 in Taos, New Mexico at the age of 61. He was born in Stigler, Oklahoma on April 10, 1936.

HE was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was married to Claudette Mary Moore on June 12, 1956 in Enid Oklahoma and the couple made their first home in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. They had traveled the United States and Canada as evangelists. The family moved to the Red Rock Oklahoma area in the early 1970s. The Rev. Morris had served the Lord for many years before going home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Mary Moore Morris on April 23, 1996; and two sons, John S. Morris Jr, and David James Morris.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas John Morris of Red Rock and Michael Lynn Morris and his wife, Jonelle of Taos, new Mexico; two daughters, Susan M. Ahdokobo and her husband Dale of Gotebo, Oklahoma and Anna M. Helt and her husband, John of Red Rock; one sister Elsie Wesley of Sobol, Oklahoma; three brothers, Jacob Morris of Tulsa Oklahoma, Josh Morris and Joseph Morris both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and many friends.
