Benjain Harrison Melton, 69, of Talihina, Oklahoma was born November 2, 1930 to Lymon and Etta Mae McCoy Melton in Lenox, Oklahoma. He passed away November 20, 1999 at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina, Oklahoma.

He was a member of Good Springs United Methodist Church of Lenox. He married Dorothy Mae Johnico on November 22, 1952.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gerald L. Melton; one bother, Larry Melton and two sisters, Francis J. Mings and Susie A. Bohanon.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; five sons, Ben Melton, Jr. and Michael Melton, both of Talihina, Lymon R. Melton of Braggs, Oklahoma, Melvin G. Melton of Heavener, Oklahona and Jason Melton of Clewiston, Florida; four daughters, Brenda K. Melton, Louise Vanriette and Annette Smith, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Lynnidean King of Talihina; three brothers, James Melton, Willis Melton and Johnny Melton, all of Talihina; four sisters, Siney Noah of Pickens, Oklahoma, Ada Edwards of Keyes, California, Shirley James of Red Oak, Oklahoma and Christine Meashintubby of Talihina; 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and host of nephews, nieces, friends,and loved ones.
