Georgia Brown Lovelace, 92, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away Monday, August 14, 2000 at a local nursing home.

Born March 15, 1908 in Red Oak, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Mary Brown. She was reared in Red Oak and Wilburton, Oklahoma and went to school in Latimer County.

She married Oscar Mathews in August 1929 and Ed Lovelace in 1945 in McAlester.

Mrs. Lovelace was a homemaker and a member of Hillcreast Baptist Church. She was a Matron of Antek Homa Lodge of the Order of Eastern Star in North McAlester and three-time Noble Grand ans Past District Deputy of Rebekah Lodge No. 54 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma.

She was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and its culture. She had attended Wheelock Academy as a young girl. Last year, at age 91, she took a Choctaw language course and earned a certificate of complition. She was very proud of this accomplishment.

Mrs. Lovelace was a beautiful seamstress and could sew or design anything. She loved to fish and travel. Also, she loved flowers and enjoyed nurturing them. A Christian, she loved reading her Bible and going to church. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jimmy Lee Taylor
