Debrah Sue Halkins LaFerr, 44, of Frederick passed away January 23, 2007, at her home in Frederick surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 23, 1962, in Portales, New Mexico, to Jimmy Wayne and Betty Sue Doan Halkins and raised by her mother and father, Betty and Paul LaFerr.

She attended schools in Anadarko and Frederick, graduating from Frederick High School in 1981. She was employed at Frederick Memorial Hospital in dietary for over 20 years. She was a proud descendant of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Frederick.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Annie Turner; uncle, James A. Doan; father, Jimmy Wayne Halkins; grandfather, Lewis Lacer; and grandparents, Ruby and Ray Halkins.

Survivors include her parents, Paul and Betty LaFerr of Gaylord, Michigan; a brother, Mark LaFerr of Ardmore; three sisters, Ruby LaFerr of Frederick, Paula Millsap of Wayne and Melissa Hall of Indian River, Michigan; grandmother, Marcie Lacer of Anadarko; grandfather, Boyd Turner of Lawton; and numerous cousins, nephews and loving friends.
