Sam Jones, age 67, of Talihina, Oklahoma was born February 20, 1924 at Eagletown, Oklahoma to Quitman and Ester Billy Jones. He passed away April 5, 1991 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital at Talihina, Oklahoma.

He served in the United States Army during World War II; he was honorably discharged on January 30, 1946. He was married to Betty Ludlow on July 5, 1968 at Chicago, Illinois.

He had lived in the Talihina area for the past 20 years. He was a member of Panki Bok Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had attended Rock Creek Cumberland at Honobia, Oklahoma. He was employed with Fountain Industries since March of 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the hoe; four daughters, Winona Berry and Theresa Frazier, both of McAlester, Oklahoma and Billie Carney and Valerie Taylor, both of Talihina, Oklahoma; one brother, Levi Jones of Eagletown, Oklahoma; one sister, Rosie Ashalintubbi of Eagletown, Oklahoma; an aunt, Acy McKinney of Broken Bow and five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Eagletown, Oklahoma. Rev. Lee Burris and Rev. Randy Jacob officiated. Interment was at Panki Bok Cemetery in Eagletown, Oklahoma.

Pall bearers were: Roy Ludlow, Cecil Berry, Willard Johnson, Jimmy Jones, Elton Jones, and Ed Frazier.
