McSweeney Dewey Johnson, 81, passed away September 19, 2004, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was born December 2, 1922, in Calera, Oklahoma, to Freeman Johnson and Lena Jackson.

He married Alice Taylor on November 25, 1944, in Bryan County. She preceded him in death on March 20, 1987.

Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Sigus, Roger, Cibie and George Johnson; three sisters, Lucille Gibson, Mellisa Johnson and Stella Mae Johnson-Taylor; one great-granddaughter, Rochelle Marris, and a son-in-law, Dawes Columbus.

He loved being with his family, attending church, sharing his faith, studying his Bible and listening to gospel music. He was a deacon of Durwood Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include a son, Dave Johnson and wife, Lucretia, of Ardmore; two daughters, Vivian Murray and husband, Ron, and Wanda Columbus, all of Madill, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Chris Baptiste and wife, LouAnn, Christine Galindo and husband, Danny, Chasity Strebeck and husband, Donald Toog, Hubert Johnson and wife, Jackie, Kim Johnson, Carla Sampson and husband, Warren, Sandra Knight and husband, Sam, Harold Popo Marris and wife, Sue, Shana Columbus, and Bruce Columbus and wife, Jolene; 15 great-grandchildren, Brandon Strebeck, Jacy Johnson, Cherissa Johnson, Allyson, Leslie, Sara, Madison and Jordan Sampson, Brittany, Lane, Leandra and Andrea Marris, and Morgan, Matt and Jackson Columbus.
