Odessa Hamilton passed away Friday, August 18, 1995 at age 88 in the Hensley Nursing Home in Sayre, Oklahoma where she had been a resident for the past several years. She was born August 23, 1906, in Coalgate, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Pike and Bessie Davis Harkins. On April 17, 1925, Odessa and Haford R. Hamilton were united in marriage and she lived in the Plainview community for over 34 years. Mr. Hamilton preceded her in death on February 18, 1948. She moved to Sayre in 1964. She was a homemaker for her family of six girls and four boys. She was a skilled seamstress and was especially good at quilting. Her survivors include six daughters, Betty Nippert of Mangum, Oklahoma, Sherry Govett of Oklahoma City, June Tramel of Prescott, Arizona, Thelma Pender of Ft Worth, Texas, Arleigh Hamilton and Nina Turner, both of Altus, Oklahoma; four sons, Bob Hamilton of Willow, Oklahoma, Riley Hamilton of Mangum, Jimmie Boyd of Ft Worth and Wayne Hamilton of Mangum; two brothers Roy Lee Harkins of Stonewall, Oklahoma and Charles Harkins of Empire, California and two sisters, Geneva Anderson of Snyder, Texas and Melba Polk of Stonewall.
