Leona W. Harber, 75, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, November 18, 2000 at a McAlester nursing home. She was born October 26, 1925 in Indianola, Oklahoma to Ed N. and Elsie Myrtle (Nale) Clayton.

She attended school at Indianola and later worked at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot and Seampruf.

After moving to Wilburton, Oklahoma in 1960 she was the cashier at Fern’s Restaurant and was a member of the Cedar Heights Church of Christ in Wilburton.

She was a former president of the American Legion Post #145, Ladies Auxiliary in Wilburton and moved back to McAlester in 1995.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Buck and Brenda Harber of Wilburton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Caroll and John Short of Wilburton, Debbie and Mike Woody of Nacogdoches, Texas, and lisa and Larry Turney of McAlester; a sister, Wynema Bell of McAlester; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stiedley of Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Tina Aaron, Destry Harber, Darren Harber and Jason Conley, all of Wilburton, Dustin Harber of Plano, Texas, Jessica Brooks of Diboll, Texas, Melissa Woody of Nacogdoches, Justin Turney and Laira Turney, both of McAlester, and Micah Short of Stillwater; four great-grandchildren, three nieces, a nephew and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Howard Stiedley.
