Ellie Lee Hollis was born on July 19, 1905 as passed away on August 18, 1995. She was born south of Boswell, Oklahoma and lived the until the age of 14 when her family moved to Sterling, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jesse Henry Wallace and Fannie Crowder, the granddaughter of Eli Crowder and Martha “Patsy” Goins. Ellie married Rolles Franklin Hollis on March 29, 1924 and in 1942 they moved to California. When Rolles died on Christmas of 1964, Ellie moved back to Lawton, Oklahoma where she lived until her death. She died in a hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. Her grandfather, mother and she were originals Choctaw enrollees, which she was very proud of. Her funeral was held at the United Methodist Church in Sterling, Oklahoma. She is survived by her daughter, Carlotta Earlene Bates; grandson, Steven Blane Bates; granddaughters, Wendy Lynn Tunnessen and Victoria Ann Hoffman and great-grandson, Byron Steven Christopher.
